Ask the businesses you patronize if they are willing to donate. You'll be surprised how many people say "yes." Encourage family members (Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, Godparents) and neighbors to help you support the school. Work together with friends and combine donations into a package. No item is too small!
Need some suggestions on what you can donate? Here are a few:
- Tickets: Sporting events, the theater, Wolftrap, movies, theme parks.....the list goes on!
- Vacation homes: beach, mountain, lake, ski
- Restaurant gift cards
- Electronic gadgets
- Summer camps
- Services: a day at the spa, haircut and style, manicure, pedicure, dry-cleaning, housecleaning services, etc
- Host a theme party (wine tasting, Cinco de Mayo, football tailgate, scavenger hunt, Poker, etc.)
- Prepare a gift basket with the theme of your choice. Some suggestions:
- beach necessities
- book club
- cooking utensils and recipes
- childrens' books
- your favorite DVDs (don't forget the popcorn!)
- something for the coffee-lover
- the chocoholic
- baby shower
Or, if you have a particular hobby, donate some of your time:
- Give music or art lessons
- Donate one of your pieces or make a custom piece
- Provide a guided tour of an art museum
- Appraise an antique (a la Antiques Roadshow)

- Arrange lunch with a celebrity or a behind-the-scenes tour
- Donate an signed Autobiography
- Signed sports or other celebrity memorabilia
- Open your home for a dinner or wine-tasting
- Donate a subscription to a gourmet magazine
- Organize a week of dinners or desserts (and have your friends help you make them!)
Handy?
- Offer handyman hours for small repair jobs
- Build and donate a dollhouse or hand-made piece of furniture
- Decorate a house for Christmas or wrap Christmas presents
- Provide a round of golf at your favorite course
- Coach a group of kids in your favorite sport
- Donate sports collectibles, athletic, or exercise equipment
Organized?
- Plan a child's birthday party or family reunion
- Organize a closet, garage, or spare room
Skilled with the Sewing Machine?
- Offer your "repair" services for minor sewing emergencies
- Make dress-up costumes or doll clothes
- Stitch a quilt or knit a scarf

Consulting hours for tax and accounting services, architectural design, computer assistance, financial planning, interior decorating, nutritional counseling, personal training, makeover advice, gardening expertise, tutoring, etc.
